Our Indigenous-Centered Approach
Our Oceania Healers Initiative was launched in 2023 to combat the various health epidemics killing our Pacific Islanders by centering and strengthening the healing capacity of Pacific Islander healers to heal through Indigenous and Western approaches. Our lessons are: healing is best mediated through Pacific Islander doctors, nurses, traditional healers and allies who value the dignity and culture of Oceania.
Our Umu & Talanoa health forums is our programmatic strategy to wellness where we center our cultural foods "umu" in feeding our village while we open up space for "talanoa" quarterly with our doctors and who work with us to improve the health of our families. We work in partnership with Doctor Fuimaono and Dr. Sundar in ensuring medical knowledge is digestible for our NH/PI trusted messengers. We also partner with various health organizations to provide access points of health for our members.

Oceania Northwest acknowledges that we live and work on stolen Coast Salish land. We recognize the land stewardship of all Indigenous people since time immemorial and the disruption of this work by white occupation. We are aligned to efforts in supporting Indigenous sovereignty in the Pacific Northwest as we also fight for Indigenous sovereignty over our home, Oceania.
